Sam Catania

president [at] patsa.org

Hi PA-TSA! I’m Sam Catania, and I am proud to be your 2019-2020 State President. I am a senior at Harriton, and this is my 7th year in TSA. This year, I’m stoked to compete in my favorite events, Webmaster and Chapter Team, as well as all of TSA’s video events; Digital Video, On Demand (if I can find time at states), and SciVis. Outside of TSA, I’m a news enthusiast and am passionately involved with my school’s television station ‘Harriton TV’ where I am Co-President. I’m also very involved in Student Council where I am Vice President. In my little free time, I love being outdoors running, biking, swimming, and skiing especially with Boy Scouts. This year, our team is going to working on numerous exciting initiatives to continue to improve our state. Keep an eye out for improvements to the website, our social media pages and more! Remember to join committees––joining committees is the best way to get involved and help advance PA-TSA! Please, at any time this year, contact me at president [at] patsa.org. Feel free to send questions, suggestions, or ideas! I’m looking forward to the best states yet just as much as you guys, and I can’t wait to see everyone there!

Charisma Hasan
Vice President

vice_president [at] patsa.org

Greetings, patrons of pasta.org! I’m Charisma Hasan, and I am any and every synonym of excited to serve as your 2019-2020 State Vice-President. Going into my senior year of high school, I’m looking forward to keeping busy with my favorite events such as Future Tech Teacher, Chapter Team, Debating Tech Issues, and SciVis instead of subduing to Senioritis. Other academic-based extracurricular activities I participate in include the school newspaper, Writing Center, Student Council, and various community service organizations. In my government-issued free time known as summer, I’ve been researching cool science stuff in a lab, working a few other part-time jobs, and running wherever I find myself. For all of you, I’m stoked to be working with the Regional Reps Committee—which you should all join—to bring regions together through region-wide fundraisers and find opportunities for you to use your STEM skills outside of TSA. If you have any questions or suggestions about what I’ll be working on this year, or if you just want to make another TSA friend, please feel free to reach out at vice_president [at] patsa.org. In the next ⅔ of a year until we all meet at Seven Springs, I hope each of you will get involved with TSA in at least one way other besides events—whether through joining committees or hosting your own ACS fundraisers.

Emily Wright

secretary [at] patsa.org

Hey PA-TSA! My name is Emily Wright, and I’m incredibly excited to be serving as your State Secretary this year. I’m currently a senior at Harriton High School, and this is my 7th year in TSA. This year, I’m looking forward to competing in Chapter Team, Debating Technological Issues, and Biotechnology Design. When I’m not reading Robert’s Rules of Order, I spend my time working as a member of the lights department for Harriton’s theater company and anchoring on our weekly news broadcast. I also love to spend time practicing the viola and the guitar. As our 42nd state conference approaches, I’m excited to begin chairing PA-TSA’s Outreach Committee (which I encourage you to join), in which I’ll be working to engage our membership in researching and implementing outreach initiatives to form relationships with colleges, STEM programs, and corporate sponsors. We’ll also be collaborating with other states to collectively pursue outreach initiatives led by National TSA. In looking forward to the coming year, I wish you the best of luck in your events, and I encourage you to get more involved with PA-TSA through joining a couple committees, participating in chapter, regional, or state fundraisers, and staying up-to-date by reading our weekly blog posts! If you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas, feel free to contact me at secretary [at] patsa.org. See you in April!

Evan Grove

treasurer [at] patsa.org

Hey PA-TSA! My name is Evan Grove, and I’m beyond excited to be serving as your 2019-2020 State Treasurer. I am currently a sophomore at South Western High School and this is my fourth year in TSA. This year, I can’t wait to crack down on Roberts Rules of Order for Chapter Team and to compete in Engineering Design, Debating Technological Issues, and Future Tech Teacher. When you won’t find me pulling all nighters for this organization, you’ll likely find me on the golf course, staying after school for Key Club and Student Council, or camping with my local Boy Scout Troop. The little free time that these groups don’t consume are spent with my best friends and netflix account. As the chair of the National Service Project Committee, I’m stoked to work with members all across the state to add ACS fundraisers and incentives at both the regional and state level. For any questions or concerns, feel free to send me an email at treasurer [at] patsa.org. I can’t wait to kick off this year of TSA with my fellow state officers and to see everyone at the 42nd state conference!

Dhruv Agarwal

reporter [at] patsa.org

Hey PA-TSA! My name is Dhruv Agarwal and I am so excited to be serving as your 2019-2020 State Reporter. I am a Junior at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and this will be my 5th year in TSA. Not only do I love doing events such as Biotechnology and Engineering Design, but I love collaborating and working with the members of PA! Outside of TSA, I will be studying hard for the SAT, cherishing my time with friends and family, playing the saxophone, and of course, eating at my favorite mexican restaurant, El Limon! This year I will be primarily working on enhancing communications throughout PA. I plan to do this as Co-Chair of the Communications and Promotion Committee and the brand new Outreach Committee! I am so stoked to continue creating multimedia and promotional content for this great organization. I plan to incorporate promotions through our various social media pages (Follow us @PennsylvaniaTSA). If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to email me at reporter [at] patsa.org!  I’ve got some pretty big plans for the 42nd state conference so it’s time to get stoked!

Hello PA-TSA! My name is Elliot Ginzburg and I am stoked to serve as your 2019-2020 State Sergeant at Arms. I am currently a Junior at Lower Merion High School and have enjoyed the memorable experiences TSA has given me over the last six years. This year, I am excited to compete in some of my favorite events including Chapter Team, Biotechnology Design, Webmaster, and Engineering Design. In the little time that I’m not working on my events or coordinating STEM outreach opportunities in my community, you can find me swimming for my school’s team, playing the trumpet, leading my school’s debate team, and serving as an editor for my school’s newspaper. This year, I’m eager to follow through on my campaign promises to you by making effective change within PA-TSA. As co-chair of the Conference Sessions and Activities Committee, I will work hard to make your free time at the State Conference more enjoyable through innovative and thoughtful interest sessions. I look forward to coming up with amazing new ideas with your help, so I encourage you to join the Conference Sessions and Activities Committee this year to have your voice heard. If you at any point have any questions, suggestions, or ideas, shoot me an email at sergeant_at_arms [at] patsa.org! I’m so excited to see all of you at an extraordinary State Conference in April!

Casey Sharpe

historian [at] patsa.org

Hi PA-TSA! I’m Casey Sharpe and I am beyond excited to serve as your 2019-2020 state Historian. I am going into my senior year at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School meaning this will sadly be my fifth and final year of TSA. Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to another year of my favorite events: Biotechnology and Engineering Design. Outside of TSA, I play on my school’s field hockey team, am in the spring musical, and am an active member of my school’s student council and various other clubs. This year, I have found myself in a unique position. One where I have the opportunity to give back and impact the organization that has given me so much. Working alongside Dhruv Agarwal, my longtime friend and the 2019-2020 State Reporter, I will continue to bring the creative energy of the members to the forefront of the state conference through the Communications and Promotions Committee. The officers and I are already hard at work to bring innovative ideas to the 42nd annual state conference and make it the best one yet! If you have any questions, suggestions, or even just want to chat, feel free to contact me at historian [at] patsa.org. I hope to see you all in April!

What’s up, PA-TSA! My name is Jonah Proepper and I’m honored to be serving as your 2019-2020 State Parliamentarian. I am currently a Senior at South Western High School and this is my sixth year in TSA. In the upcoming year, I’m excited to begin preparing for Debating Technological Issues, studying for Chapter Team, and running the new Bylaw and Resolutions Review Committee. When I’m not working on TSA, I keep myself busy with many extracurriculars. At South Western, I serve as the Student Council President, the Treasurer of my class, a Mini-THON Captain, as well as a member of the Debate Team. In the small amount of free time I have, I enjoy spending time with my family and making memories with my closest friends. On the Conference Sessions and Activities Committee, I’ll be hard at work improving the existing sessions at States, as well as adding new and exciting Special Interest Sessions to Regionals.
