Use this link to Judges Sign Up
Event Coordinator
Chapter advisors will be assigned as an Event Coordinator. Responsibilities will include reading “event coordinator instructions” in the CEG prior to the conference, working with judges, checking in students at drop off, and setting up the event prior to drop off and judging. Make sure your event runs smoothly and troubleshoot any issues with the judges.

Check In and ID Labeling of Projects
Student and/or Team ID #’s must be typed in the upper right corner of the first page of all Portfolios so that they can be easily read through the clear front report cover. Structures, planes, DVD, USB, posters, etc… should be labeled by some other means such as a sharpie marker or paint pen.
Students involved in a team event will be allowed to check in their entire team and projects. This means that only one student needs to report to the designated check in location. This student must know each team member’s individual ID number to do this properly. You may still instruct all team members to report together if you so choose.
Student Participation
To prevent a student from attending the conference and only having a “turn-in” event with nothing else scheduled to do all day, a minimum participation policy is in effect. This policy requires that each student be registered for and participate in at least 2 (two) events at the Region 4 Conference. We ask that chapter advisors attempt to make sure that at least one of these events has an onsite component. Events with onsite components can be determined by viewing the Region 4 Conference Event Matrix.
Every student MUST attend the conference informational sessions.
CONFERENCE ATTENDEES
Everyone, including parents, guests, and children, must be registered to attend the conference. All must comply with the TSA dress code policy. All registrants must wear official conference identification name badges at all times.
Dress Code
The Region 4 Conference will follow the PA-TSA Dress Code of Category B as a minimum for all events. The dress code can be found at http://patsa.org/conferences/dress-code.
Event Rule Amendments During Regional Conference
The Regional Coordinator and the Regional Conference Planning Team may need to alter an event due to space and/or time considerations. All event decisions and standings are deemed as final.
PA-TSA Handbook
Please refer to the following link for more information on Pennsylvania TSA events and conferences. http://patsa.org/handbook
Regional Conference Attendance
All participants must be present at the conference in order to compete in events and be eligible for awards and qualifying status. Students may not submit events for other students that are not in attendance.
Special Needs
Please notify the Regional Coordinator with any special needs by the Regional Conference registration deadline.
ID Badges
All Advisors, students and judges MUST wear their assigned ID Badge at all times during the conference.
Interview/Speech Sign-Ups
Sign-up times for ALL public speaking events and interviews will be on a first come, first serve basis.
Event Conflicts
Each advisor and student should attempt to choose events that do not take place at the same time. The prior year’s schedule is posted and can be used as a guide. In the event of an unavoidable conflict, it is the participant’s responsibility to discuss the matter with the event judge prior to the event beginning. All judges will be advised to allow late entry (if possible) to any student that provides prior notice.
Medical Emergency & Participant Forms
Each chapter advisor MUST have with them the PATSA Participant Forms for each student in attendance. Dial 911 in the case of emergency. http://patsa.org/sites/default/files/participant_forms_jul2017.pdf
Event Pickup
There will be a scheduled time for students to pick up their events when judging is completed. Any projects remaining at the end of the day will be discarded.
Lunch and Snacks
Lunch is included in the student fee and there is no charge for advisors and judges. All others must provide their own lunch. There will also be snacks available for purchase throughout the day.
Award Ribbons and Qualifiers
Ribbons will be awarded at a minimum to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place qualifiers of each event. Qualifiers not announced at the awards ceremony will be posted on the Region 4 page as soon as possible during Conference Weekend. Any student or team listed on this posting has qualified for the State Conference even if the number of event wins for a specific chapter exceeds the State Conference maximum shown in Appendix E of the PATSA Handbook. Please refer to Section 6.03 (g) of the PATSA Handbook for more details regarding Qualifiers.
Safety Glasses
Students must wear eye protection for any event that requires it. Students will not be allowed to participate in their event until this requirement is met.
PATSA Scholarships Available
Did you know that your students could win scholarships toward college? Please be sure to show them the opportunities that are posted at http://patsa.org/programs/scholarships-awards.
