President's Welcome

Hey PA-TSA! I hope everyone is feeling happy and healthy! Although the past spring and summer were nothing we could have ever anticipated, the State Officer Team has been working hard all summer to bring forth important initiatives to our state. The team’s goal this year is to make up for canceled conferences from this past year by making the 2020-2021 TSA season the best one yet!

Headed by your Treasurer Arnav Dhingra and Historian Avery Broggi, we’ll be starting a new pin design contest that will allow members to compete to have their pin design traded at the upcoming national conference in Orlando. We hope this initiative will both allow you to show us your skills in graphic design and create a piece of PA-TSA’s history.

This summer, we’ve started an initiative to contact colleges and universities across Pennsylvania to inform them of the great work that our members do on a daily basis. We have seen the dedication you have towards your events, outreach opportunities in your community, and the fundraisers you set up for the American Cancer Society. Our hope is that you will be advantaged in the college admissions process if local colleges are more informed about your hard work. We are also seeking to create partnerships with colleges and universities across Pennsylvania to kick-off a College Fair at the upcoming state conference.

At the annual summer board meeting, our team sought to redesign the PA-only event rules, improve our social media presence through polls and monthly officer Q&A videos, and amend the PA Logo Design rules to include provisions for expanding our social media following. We’re also pleased to announce that the complete redesign of the website is on track to launch during the 2021-2022 school year! Furthermore, our team is excited to champion for TSA funding and support at the state capitol this coming year, give chapters a greater voice through chapter president town hall meetings, and make events clearer through event starter guides.

As you prepare to embark on your TSA journey for the 2020-2021 season, consider becoming more involved in our great organization. Joining committees is one of the best ways for having your voice heard and for making serious change in PA-TSA. Applications to join will be posted shortly on the “For Students” tab under “Committees.” The deadline to join is November 1, but if you would like to take your leadership involvement to the next level, apply by October 15 to become a Vice Chair! Getting involved in a committee is also an awesome way to kickstart a run for state office!

We hope you will remain connected with us on social media by following @PennsylvaniaTSA on all social media platforms. We also hope that you will attend our FLEX conference this November! If you have any questions, suggestions, or just want to chat, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at president [at] patsa.org. I wish you all the best in your upcoming TSA year! Stay safe and stay awesome!
