February Update
By Chris Roth
Feb 16, 2008 - 2:49:36 PM

The following is a list of important information regarding the PA-TSA State Conference Schedule.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Chris Roth (croth@patsa.org).

  1. The State Conference takes place during the 2nd week of the Reading/Math PSSA window.
  2. This year’s reservation form has a place for your school’s tax exempt number.  You must place this number on the form when you send it to Seven Springs or you will be charged tax.
  3. We will be using the Condos on top of the hill at Seven Springs again this year due to the number of attendees.  You will be assigned your room location based on the date your reservation is received by Seven Springs.  Shuttles will again be provided and this year we will have security slots designated for the condos.
  4. Seven Springs has changed the configuration of several of the rooms in the hotel.  Many rooms now have a king size bed and queen size sofa bed instead of two queen size beds.  Seven Springs will still be using the new configuration to house four people.  There is no way to designate the layout of the rooms you receive.
  5. There are a few schedule changes from last year.  A few events have a new time or location.  The biggest change is the process for completing written tests.  There will be two middle school and two high school test sessions offered on Wednesday night and three test sessions for both levels offered on Thursday morning.  All written tests will be offered in each session.  Only one test may be completed per session.  For team events, all members of the team must take the test during the same session.  There will be NO make-up test sessions for conflicts.  Please plan accordingly when registering for events.
  6. A tentative schedule is posted on the PA-TSA website under the State Conference information.  Please understand this schedule is tentative, but no major changes should occur.  Therefore, when registering students for events, please take into consideration any possible conflicts and try to avoid them whenever possible.  Exceptions made for conflicts must be arranged with the coordinator before the events occurs and may be denied by the coordinator.
  7. Applications  for the Tom Winters Distinguished Service Award or the Don Rickards Volunteer Service Award are still being accepted.  Please find the forms on the PA-TSA website.
  8. Reminder that all chapters are required to fill a designated number of security time slots (based on your registration number) while at the conference.  I will again be sending out a request before the conference begins for those advisors who are willing to fill a slot on Wednesday night during registration.
  9. The 2008 READ, READ, READ document is posted on the PA-TSA website.  Please read this document for important reminders concerning the conference and a list of event rule changes that will be enforced this year.  Make a special note of the upcoming change for Structural Engineering High School.

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding the conference schedule, event rules or registration.  New advisors, please make sure you ask questions if there is any confusion with the information you are receiving or would like to receive.

Sincerely,

Chris Roth
PA-TSA State Conference Co-Director
