“Learning to Live in a Technical World”

In 1998, the PA-TSA Board of Directors presented the first three -$500 scholarships to Rebekkah Jones, 
Matt Yost and
 Ryan Mannin.  Since that time the board has presented 37 scholarships totaling $38,500. The money for the scholarships comes from a small portion of the state conference registration fee. Every registered TSA Senior is eligible to apply for the scholarships.

This year the board of directors will be offering three $1500 scholarships. One for an outstanding female, one for an outstanding male student and one for a student going to college to become a technology education teacher. The future teacher scholarship is named in memory of Mr. Terry Schwalm who served as the PA-TSA PDE State Facilitator for a number of years.

Several of our past scholarship winners have returned to PA-TSA to serve as advisors and board members- Rebekkah Jones Morasco – advisor to Central Bucks High School, Lauren Lapinski- advisor to Bala Cynwyd Middle School and State Conference Director, Michelle Suders- advisor to Milton Hershey School and State Officer Advisor, Jason Jarrett– advisor to Boiling Springs High School, Ryan Jerico- a judge at states and Adam Lapinski –Bucknell Leadership Training.

It is not to late to apply for a scholarship. The applications can be found on the PA-TSA website under the students/scholarships & awards section. All applications must be postmarked by January 15, 2011. When filling out the application be sure to double check that everything is complete including the three letters of recommendation and a transcript. The completed application and all required paperwork must be sent in one envelope.

The judging panel consists of Mr. William Bertrand, Dr. Leonard Litowitz and Dr. Laura Hummel. The scholarships are presented on Friday evening at the state conference. Please take the time to apply.  More information can be found here.
