Members,

As many of you are probably aware, Shawn Lydon is in the midst of a family crisis. His one little girl Rehanna is in the hospital and will be in need of radiation treatment. Shawn has been spending many hours in the hospital with her. I’m sure that this is creating a great stress on his and his families life.

It has been suggested that we do something to help. I contacted the American Cancer Society to find out if our money that was raised to be donated directly in Shawns daughters name to her or his family They told me the best way to do this was to take any raised money and directly donate it to Shawn. The American Cancer Society recognized emergency needs like this and can not guarantee that our donated monies will reach him in time.

Therefore I am asking, and hoping that if your club has raised any money for the ACS this year that you might consider using some or all of it to help Shawn in his hour of need. This may be the best thing we can do for him at this point. I would also urge you to pray for his daughters recovery. It is very hard with an eight year old is stricken with something like this. We usually think it is for older people but Cancer does not realize age limits.

On my side, today I will ask our officer team at Pequea Valley to consider what I have just proposed. If your team decides to help Shawn’s daughter Rehanna then this is the address to send the check.

Thank you for your time in this. I hope we can rise and help our fellow teacher and aid his young daughter in her recovery.

A message from Shawn's school regarding Rehanna's condition:

One of our friends is in need of our support at this time.  Shawn and Marcia Lydon's oldest daughter Rehanna, 8, has been in Children's Hospital since Tuesday.  She had to have emergency surgery Tuesday night to remove a located in her lower spinal column.  The tumor was located in the L2 and L3 vertebra.  The doctors anticipate that Rehanna will have to have both radiation and chemo once she has recovered from the surgery.  The extent of  the treatments  will be based on the oncology lab results.  At this time, Shawn and Marcia do not know how long she will remain in the hospital.  Please no visitors at this time.

I'm sending this asking for your help and support during this very difficult time for the Lydon's.  Shawn is pretty much staying at the hospital with Rehanna, but Marcia is traveling back and forth from their home in Butler taking care of their other 2 girls, Victoria, 5 and Makenna, 1.
