This is one of the changes for events.  Please check both the Pennsyvlania and National web sites.

Fashion Design:

It now appears that the teams only need to make one dress and one suit.   They are now counting the suit as two   garments (see below).   Since this is a significant change I wanted to be sure that all the high school advisors were aware of it.

Here is what it currently says:

HS Fashion Design

For   2009, both a prom dress and a suit must be designed by each team. Models for a   team must be members of the school TSA chapter; they need not be members of the   HS Fashion Design team.

The garments designed for the HS Fashion Design event may   be turned in on hangars or in garment bags as needed. The drawings, patterns,   materials lists, etc. should be put into the 15 quart container for check-in.   Team ID numbers must be visible on all parts of a team's entries.

1) The   reference to three (3) garments includes one dress (1 item) and one suit (2   items - pants and jacket), for a total of three items.

2) A shirt and tie to go with the suit may be purchased, not made.

On Saturday, March 7, I along with many others attended the TEAP board meeting in Bedford.  They are looking for teachers to share their ideas with others.  They will help you prepare a presentation or work with a number of teachers so you only do a 15 minute presentation, not 60 minutes.  Please contact workshop@teap-online.org

Along with this concept, now might be the time to put in for the TEAP Conference, November 5-7, 2009.  With many schools have issues with budget, now would be the time to get this professional development conference approved.  Being a presenter might help get you approved.

Both Pennsylvania TSA and TEAP or looking for recommendations for awardees.  Please contact Dennis Gold, dgold@state.pa.us for TSA and www.teap-online.org for information about their awards.  If you are unsure please talk to someone about it.  We believe everyone is doing an outstanding job.

PTC's DesignQuest Schools Program offers an program for teacher to be trained and get software.  See www.teap-online.org.

Real World Design Challenge will have two events next year.  Aviation and Automotive are the two areas.

Please contact your local STEM office.  They have asked how they can help.  I am sure many of our chapters need help in equipment, supplies, or funds to travel.  Ask STEM to connect you with local business to help out.  Start building a relationship now.  As the STEM organization grows, be part of the partnership.

We all know about the economy.   You can contact national TSA and they will create a invoice for 2009-10 dues now.  This can be paid with this years money for next years membership.  Contact Sandy Honour shonour@tsaweb.org.  It has worked for a number of chapters.  We have been growing with membership.  Let's be proactive and keep this growth going, and going.

Great Lakes Industrial Technology Summit - SAVE THE DATE!

Great Lakes Industrial Technology Summit - SAVE THE DATE!

Note the new date for GLITS!

October 12, 14 & 15, 2009

The Great Lakes Industrial Technology Summit (GLITS), an event for the diversified manufacturing community is an evolving event of the region. Over twenty years ago it started as the Industrial Expo to showcase products to the community that were made in the region. It progressed into a premier trade show for companies to meet with prospective buyers and suppliers. And now it’s evolved and encompasses both of these previous functions, as well as provides a bridge between the region’s workforce and industry seeking skilled workers.

To learn more about the event or reserve your space as an exhibitor, please visit www.GreatLakesSummit.com .
